A useful home inventory does more than list rooms. After a loss, you may need descriptions, serial numbers, photos, receipts, quantities and replacement estimates, then a separate record of policy limits, deductibles, depreciation, insurer offers and actual payments. Spread across a phone gallery, an email inbox and a spreadsheet, those details are hard to find exactly when you need them, and the totals are easy to count twice.

Home Inventory & Insurance Claim Desk keeps the original inventory and the loss event connected without overwriting history. Record belongings before a problem or reconstruct them afterwards. Enter policy limits and settlement rules exactly as you understand them; the program does not read or interpret the policy for you.

For each claim line, compare requested replacement value, an entered assessment, depreciation, item/category/total limits and the shared event deductible. Offers remain offers until accepted and paid. Cash, direct vendor payments and vouchers are separate, and a voucher can use a practical value you enter rather than pretending face value equals cash.

The report shows evidence available, conditional recoverable depreciation, confirmed payments and remaining potential under the entered rules. It also compares the inventory’s replacement estimate with the entered applicable limit. These are organisation and arithmetic tools, not a coverage decision or a promise of payment.

Worked example from the fictional theft demo: a road bicycle with a replacement value of 1,000 and entered depreciation of 200 has an ACV of 800; with an entered per-item limit of 700, the eligible amount is 700. Headphones (300) and a tablet (500) share an entered electronics sublimit of 500, so they become 187.50 and 312.50. One 100 deductible is applied once across the event — 43.75, 11.72, 19.53 and 25.00 on the four lines — leaving a net potential of 1,500. An accepted offer of 500 followed by a cash payment of 500 counts as 500 paid, not 1,000; a store voucher with a face value of 100 that is worth 80 to the household counts as 80. With 120 of depreciation still conditional on a replacement receipt, the remaining potential is 800 under the entered terms.

Try the three fictional demos — a theft with an electronics sublimit, a water loss with repair, held-back depreciation and a percent deductible, and a whole-house inventory compared with an entered limit — before adding your own records. A one-time purchase gives you the full online tool and the downloadable offline program; an active PRO subscription opens the full online tool while it is active, without the new offline program. Both let you keep the reports, CSV files and backups you create.

What you get

  • Room-by-room inventory with quantity and three separate values: purchase price, current estimate and replacement estimate.
  • Evidence kept on your device — photos, receipts, valuations, labels — with SHA-256 and a duplicate-file warning that never deletes anything.
  • Policy limits, sublimits, per-item limits, settlement basis and deductible entered by you; a missing limit stays unknown, never unlimited.
  • Loss events that select affected quantities (2 of 5) without changing the inventory or its history.
  • Claim lines with entered depreciation and ACV, shared limits allocated proportionally or by your priority, and one deductible applied once.
  • Recoverable depreciation only where you mark it, conditional until a replacement or repair receipt.
  • Offer, accepted and confirmed-paid states: an offer is never a payment, and vouchers count at the value you enter.
  • Gaps: approximate underinsurance against entered limits, missing evidence and unpaid amounts.
  • Claim summary, room inventory, emergency offline print, evidence index, questions for the insurer, CSV exports and an evidence-files ZIP.

How it works

  1. Record the home. Add rooms and belongings with quantity, purchase price, current estimate and replacement estimate, then link photos, receipts and labels.
  2. Enter the policy terms. Type the total limit, category sublimits, per-item limits, settlement basis and deductible exactly as written — the program never reads the policy.
  3. Select what was affected. Create the loss event, choose affected items and quantities, add other costs, and enter assessments and depreciation.
  4. Track offers and payments. Record offers, cash, vouchers, vendor and third-party payments; see net potential, conditional depreciation, paid and remaining amounts with every formula shown.

Limits

Organisation and arithmetic under the values and terms you enter. It does not read or interpret a policy, decide coverage, exclusions or what is owed, guess depreciation or values, contact an insurer or promise any payment, and it does not replace an insurer, adjuster, broker or lawyer. Always check the policy wording.

Questions

Does the tool tell me whether my loss is covered?

No. It organises your inventory, evidence and the policy terms you enter, and shows the arithmetic under those terms. It does not read or interpret a policy or decide coverage, exclusions or what an insurer owes.

What happens if I do not know a limit?

Leave it empty. The claim then shows “unknown” and waits for it; a missing limit is never treated as unlimited.

Is the deductible taken from every item?

No. A deductible you enter is applied once for the whole event and shared across the claim lines in proportion to the covered amounts, or exactly as you allocate it.

Why is an offer not counted as paid?

Because it is not money received. An offer of 500 followed by a cash payment of 500 counts as 500 paid. Only confirmed cash, direct vendor payments and vouchers at the value you enter count.

Does the tool estimate depreciation?

No. You or the insurer enter the depreciation amount; enter 0 if none applies. Recoverable depreciation is used only where you mark that the policy or its condition permits it.

Does this use AI?

No. Calculations follow the rules and assumptions shown in the tool. The help panel explains the inputs, formulas and limitations.

What is included in a one-time purchase?

The full online tool, the self-contained offline package, a guide, templates and your own reports and backups, under the licence shown at checkout.

Is it included in PRO?

Active PRO Week, Month and Year subscribers can use the full online tool. The offline program for this new tool is included only with a one-time purchase. Your own reports and data backups are not offline-program downloads.

What happens if PRO ends?

You can still view and back up your existing local records. Creating or editing calculations requires renewed PRO or a one-time purchase. A separate one-time purchase remains valid independently of PRO.

Where are my records and photos stored?

The workspace stores records and evidence files in your browser on this device. Save regular backups and keep one outside the home. Clearing browser storage can remove local records. Account and purchase records are handled separately by the website.

Can I use another language or currency?

The interface supports English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Russian. Choose your calculation currency separately from the language. Currency conversion uses the rates you enter.

Does the demo accept my data?

No. The demo uses fictional examples and lets you inspect the workflow and sample reports. Your own inputs, files and imports are available in the full version.

Does this replace a professional adviser?

No. It explains calculations under your inputs. Use the insurer, a licensed adjuster or broker, or a lawyer for coverage and legal questions.

Personal-use license for one household. No resale or redistribution. Opens in your browser right after payment, on phone and computer. Your figures stay on your device. No physical item.
