250% is the ceiling for the Affordable Care Act’s cost-sharing reductions — the extra help with deductibles, copays and the out-of-pocket maximum, which is a separate benefit from the premium credit. It attaches only to a silver marketplace plan: at exactly the same income, choosing bronze or gold gives the benefit up entirely while the premium credit carries on.
Marketplace income is tested against the guidelines in force when you enrol, which for a plan year is normally the set published in the previous calendar year. So this table is the one an enrolment for the year after 2026 is measured against, not the one for coverage during 2026 — read which guideline year the marketplace names before comparing anything to it.
